You are a farmer outside of Tulsa, Oklahoma. During the Great Depression you could only sell an ear of corn for $.03. Due to the decrease in the cost of crops you were close to losing your farm. You'd already sold your truck and two tractors to be able to make your payments to the bank. With all the soldiers going to war and the increase in the need for food supplies the US government is buying ears of corn for $.25 each. This helped save your farm, allowed you to hire extra farm workers, and buy new machinery while also contributing to the war effort.
